One of the great things about playing shop for a living is that I get search out new products and share them with like minded folk who I know are going to be just as excited as I am.  Today I’m even more excited than usual because I’ve discovered Velvet Cloud, an Irish Sheep’s milk yoghurt fresh from the farm.

We’ve been stocking sheep’s yoghurts for some time now because they are higher in calcium, zinc, vitamins A B C &  E and protein. More importantly, many of our customers find them much easier to digest than regular cow’s milk yoghurts.  That’s because the fat molecules in sheep’s milk are smaller, more homogeneous and therefore are easier to digest.

The French sheep’s yoghurt we’ve been stocking is of really excellent quality, but I always thiought it woud be nice to stock an Irish product if I could. I haven’t been able to find an Irish one, until now…

The Flanagan family’s Rockfield Dairy is just 8km outside Claremorris in Co Mayo.  They have been sheep farmers for generations, but their Velvet Cloud is brand new to the market.  It is a wonderfully  mild & creamy yoghurt pruduced on a real farm by  happy sheep.  What more could you need?
