For those of you who, like us, follow Susan Jane White’s weekly Eats Shoots & Leaves column in the Sunday Independent, you may be interested in this year’s Rude Health event as part of the West Waterford Festival of Food.

On Saturday 12th April at 2.00pm SJW will be in Dungarvan Town Hall to demonstrate some recipes from her new best selling cookery book The Extra Virgin Kitchen.

Tickets are just €10.00 and are available from us here in store or via the festival box office

In Praise of Teff Flour

We are getting asked about Teff flour a lot at the moment following some recent press reports.

Grown largely in Ethiopia, Teffs tiny seeds – the size of poppy seeds – are high in calcium, iron and protein, and boast an impressive set of amino acids.

Naturally gluten-free, Teff can substitute for wheat flour in just about anything from bread and pasta to pancakes and pizza bases.

By popular demand, we now stock Suma brown Teff flour.

We’re really pleased to add Uncle Aidan’s Authentic Stone Ground Flour to our range of Irish products.  This lovely wholemeal wheat flour is ground at Ballyminane Mills, an authentic water mill located in Ballindaggin, Co. Wexford.

This family owned mill is powered by the Urrin River and dates back to the early 1800′s. Operations at the mill continue in the traditional way.

The wheat used for Uncle Aidan’s Flour is sourced locally from Ballyhamilton Farms and is ground slowly between rotating French burr stones. In using French burr stones, the authentic flavour of the flour is preserved, and that’s what makes Uncle Aidan’s Authentic Stone Ground Flour the very best around!

We now stock more than 30 different flours and bread mixes.

We have Michael from Irish supplement company PPC in store on Thursday 13th March to talk about Eskimo Oil & Zerochol.  Feel Free to drop in & hear from the experts.

In conjunction with this in store event we are running a competition on our Facebook site.  To see how you could win 6 months supply of Eskimo oil in either liquid or capsule form.
