Alzheimer’s Tea Day

We will be holding our 6th Annual Alzheimer’s Tea Day in store on Thursday 3rd May from 10.00am – 5.00pm.  The format’s simple: we make you a cup of any one of the 80+ flavours of tea we have in store and you make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.  There’s no purchase necessary.

To tempt you further, Anne & Dearbhla will be baking some homemade cakes & biscuits to go with your tea (including some Gluten Free jam tarts), because a cup of tea is just too wet without a little something.

We are really grateful to our generous customers who have donated hundreds of euro to this fantastic cause over the past few years.  Please join us on May 3rd and make this Alzheimer’s Tea Day our best one yet.

Dunany Irish Spelt Flour

We’ve been looking for ages for an Irish Organic Spelt flour at a reasonable price. So we are thrilled to have just taken delivery of a batch of Dunany Organic wholemeal spelt flour.

It comes in a simple brown paper bag with a lovely spelt soda bread recipe on the reverse.

Grown and stoneground at Dunany Farm in Togher, Co. Louth, it retails for just €3.75 per kilo.

Our Waterford Festival of Food in-store events begin tomorrow (Thursday 12th April) with Nutritionist Roisin O’Shea.  Roisin will be in store from 10.30am – 1.00pm.
On Friday we have Tramore based wholefoods phenomenon Chia Bia in store with free samples and tastings.
Cathy Whitty from Cathy’s Spelt for Health joins us on Saturday with her fantastic spelt breads and flapjacks.  Cathy was hugely popular when she was with us a few years ago and this is one not to be missed.

More Tea Vicar?

Dungarvan’s best kept little secret Tea Room opens again during the Waterford Festival of Food from 13th – 15th April.

Set in the old vestry of St. Mary’s Church of Ireland on Jacknall Street Dungarvan, this Tea Room has a truly old fashioned feel. You can enjoy your Fair Trade tea from an extensive tea menu in an antique cup and saucer & sample home baked cakes and cucumber sandwiches on vintage cake stands.  All this whilst listening to some old style music.

There is also an exhibition on afternoon teas and costumes in the church. Donations for St. Vincent De Paul & the Church restoration fund would be appreciated.

Easter Opening Hours

Will be open on Good Friday from 9.30am to 3.00pm, and then open as normal on Saturday from 9.30am – 5.30pm.

We will be closed on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

In the meantime, we have a rapidly diminishing stock of Green & Black’s Easter Eggs and the last few Aine’s Sugar Free eggs.

A very Happy Easter to one and all.

Waterford Festival Of Food

We’re starting to get a bit giddy about the Waterford Festival of Food which runs from Thursday 12th – Sunday 15th April. There’s so much going on we can’t even begin to pick out the highlights.

Of course as always, we’ll be having free in store events on every day of the festival.  We’ll be posting more details in the coming days.  Meanwhile, we have a stock of festival brochures – feel free to drop by & pick one up.

Festival tickets are available from the Wine Buff on the Square or from the festival web site www.waterfordfestivaloffood.com
